On 4-12-2015 at 4:30 am, deputies from the Sheriff's Pixley Substation responded to a shots call on McNeely Road in Alpaugh. During the investigation it was learned that unknown suspects shot at the residence. There were three subject’s sleeping inside. Nobody was hit and there were no injuries.

On the above date and time Deputies responded to the above location in Tulare regarding a Grand Theft of wood siding from a barn.  The victim told Deputies between last Sunday and this Tuesday, unknown suspect(s) had removed several feet of wooden siding from an old barn.  The victim estimated his loss at about $1,500.00.

On 4-10-2015 at 1:45 pm, deputies from the Sheriff's Pixley Substation responded to an interrupted Burglary in the 300 block of Olympia in Earlimart. During the investigation, it was learned the victim arrived home and observed an unknown suspect in his kitchen. The suspect fled the residence and dropped property belonging to the victim. The property was recovered and returned. The suspect was able to get away with a cell phone valued at $100. There were no injuries.

PC 245- Assault with a Deadly Weapon

On Thursday, 04/09/15, Deputies responded to a residence on the 11100 block of Avenue 272 in Visalia regarding a violation of restraining order report.  When Deputies arrived on scene it was discovered the father of the female listed on the restraining order was involved in a physical altercation with the suspect, Aaron Torrence. 

During the altercation Aaron took a knife from the victim and attempted to stab him with it.  The victim received a laceration on his right hand after he grabbed the knife.  The suspect fled the scene in his vehicle and was later arrested at his residence without incident.  Two knives were recovered at Aaron’s residence.

The victim could not provide any information on the suspect(s).

UPDATE ***

Suspect: MC Clard, Harrison Sheridan – 60 years (husband to the victim, also deceased)

 

On 4-9-15 at approx. 0950 hrs. Tulare County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the 7480 block of Ave. 308, Goshen regarding a check the welfare.

 

Upon arrival Deputies were able to make entry into the travel trailer where they discovered a male and a female deceased from apparent gunshot wounds.

 

Tulare County Violent Crimes Detectives responded to the scene and during the investigation they located a revolver in the suspect’s hand. Detectives also located a suicide note that outlined the intentions of the victim/suspect.

 

An autopsy was performed on both the victim and suspect on 4-13-14. During the entire investigation and autopsy no evidence of a third party involvement was discovered therefore this case will be closed as a murder/suicide.

Upon arrival deputies contacted a subject inside a vehicle attempting to conceal a firearm.  The subject was found to be displaying signs and symptoms of being under the influence of a controlled substance while in possession of a loaded firearm.  The firearm was found to be stolen from Southern California.  The suspect was on active probation and forbidden to possess firearms as a condition.

On April 3, 2015 Deputies were contacted by a victim who reported his former roommate had entered his locked room on or about March 24, 2015 and stolen his personal property. Information provided by the victim said the roommate had taken a lawn mower, speakers, and other tools from the victim’s room with a estimated loss of $2,062.00. Victim reported the suspect and his girlfriend no longer live at the residence and cannot be located. Investigation is on-going and the Sheriff’s Department is attempting to locate the suspect. On 4-7-2015 at 1000 hours, Deputies from Tulare County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of a burglary in the 22700 Block of Ave 178, Porterville.  Upon arrival, contact was made with the Victim who reported 6 guns had been stolen out of his home over the past weekend while he was away.  The weapons were a variety of hunting rifles and a shotgun, all of various makes and models.  The Victim estimated the loss to be $3,000.00.  The crime scene was processed and physical evidence was located.

Tulare County Sheriff’s Deputies from Pixley Substation were dispatched to a residence in the 12400 Block of Avenue 80, Pixley in regard to a subject acting strangely and yelling in front of someone’s house.  Upon arrival, Deputies contacted the Reporting Party and discovered the subject had walked away.  While at the location, Deputies noticed someone jumping over a fence and proceeded toward him.  Upon contact the subject tried to punch a Deputy in the face, and a physical altercation ensued.  The subject resisted arrested and was eventually taken into custody.  He sustained minor injuries and was medically treated before being booked into custody at Pre-Trail in Visalia.

On 4-04-15 at 2305 hours Deputies responded to a residence in the 900 Block of E. Terra Bella Avenue in Pixley regarding an injured dog.  Upon arrival Deputies contacted the victim who advised his 3 month old pitbull had sustained two lacerations to its neck.  It is not known how the injuries to the dog were inflicted.  Several pieces of meat were also thrown over the fence into the yard where the dog was.  The injuries to the dog were not life threatening.  No suspects have been identified in his case.

The suspect had taken money from said victims for materials he never produced. Detectives located and arrested Brandon Birchfield.  Detectives are continuing to investigate this case.

It was learned the victim was at John J Doyle School playing cards with some friends when they were approached by two unknown suspects the suspects fired a fire arm two times, striking the victim in the torso. The unknown suspects fled the area and the victim was transported to the hospital.

On 04/04/15 Deputies from Tulare County Sheriff’s Department, Pixley Substation conducted a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle for a minor traffic violation. While Deputies contacted the driver of the vehicle, he along with the front passenger advised they were on County probation with a search clause. A records check with Dispatch confirmed they were both on County probation. A search of the vehicle was conducted and live ammunition along with a loaded 38 cal. Revolver was found in the vehicle. The front passenger was arrested and booked for PC 30305 (a) and the male juvenile passenger said the loaded firearm was his and was arrested for PC 25400 (a) (3). The driver was released from the scene without incident.

On 04-04-15 at approximately 0057 hrs, Deputies from the Orosi Substation were dispatched to the 11800 block of Ave 416 for a report of a male subject brandishing a firearm at family members.  Upon  arrival the male suspect was contacted outside the residence and detained.  After investigating the incident, a firearm was located inside with the serial number ground off.  The victim reported that the suspect pointed the Handgun at him causing him to fear for his life while being threatened by the suspect.  The suspect was arrested and booked into the Tulare County Pre-Trial Facility on charges of PC 422 (Terrorists Threats), PC 417 (Brandishing a Weapon) and PC 23920 (Alteration or removal of name, make, model or serial number from a weapon).

On the above listed date and time, detectives with the Sheriff’s Tactical Enforcement Personnel (STEP Unit) were conducting a marijuana compliance check at the above listed location and discovered six (6) marijuana grow sites.  The above listed suspects were contacted on the property and were found to be tending to the grow sites which contained a total of 1763 marijuana plants.  All of the marijuana plants were being grown under the guise of California’s Medical Marijuana Laws and  it was learned through the investigation that the marijuana was intended for sale. Ten (10) pounds of fully processed, packaged marijuana was also located on scene along with a two (2) firearms in possession of Suspect #1 (Cardenas).  The suspects indicated they were planning on harvesting at minimum, two pounds of processed marijuana from each plant.  

If the marijuana plants were allowed to mature, the processed marijuana from the plants would have commanded a street value of $3,526,000.00.

On 3-30-15 Pixley Patrol Deputies responded to the 16000 block of Hwy. 99, Tipton in regards to the report of the theft of a tractor truck or big rig. Upon arrival they were advised unknown suspects(s) entered a secured gated area and removed a 1992 Freightliner cab over tractor truck worth an estimated $3,750.00. It was advised the truck had previously been sold at auction; however payment had not been received.      

Detectives from the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department AG Crimes Unit were contacted and took over the investigation. Leads were developed and the case remains under active investigation.

On 3-29-2015 at 11:00am, deputies from the Sheriff's Pixley Substation contacted a subject at the 900 block of South State in Earlimart.  During the investigation, it was learned that the suspect had a concealed sharp object considered to be a Dagger. The suspect was arrested and booked at the Porterville Substation without incident.

Narrative: On 03-29-2015 at 1045 hours, deputies were dispatched to the 1000 block of North Prospect Street in Porterville in regards to a burglary. Upon arrival, the victim, Carlos Garcia, reported that between approximately 2200 hours on 3-28-2015 and 1000 hours on 03-29-2015 unknown subject(s) entered his locked vehicle and removed multiple items. Garcia estimated the loss at $ 175.00.

246.3 PC- Gross Negligent Discharge of a Firearm
LOCATION:  250 Block of E. Clay          DATE:  3-28-15          TIME:  2032 Hrs

Tulare County Sheriff’s Deputies from Pixley Substation were dispatched to a shooting in progress. They responded to a residence located in the 200 block of E. Clay Street in Earlimart.  Upon arrival Deputies contacted the Reporting Party who said "A subject named “Alex” had been attending a baby shower at the location and got drunk".  "When he was asked to leave, he became upset and started shooting a gun in the roadway".  According to witnesses, he fired multiple shots into the roadway, and more rounds into the air as he drove away from the scene.  No injuries were reported.  During the investigation, Deputies searched several locations for the suspect but were unable to find him.  The weapon remains outstanding.

PC 245- Assault with a Deadly Weapon

On 03-28-15 Deputies from Tulare County Sheriff’s Department responded to Tulare District Hospital for a report that a victim of a stabbing which occurred in the Lindsay area.  Upon arrival, it was discovered unknown suspect(s) stabbed the victim during an altercation at a party.  The victim was treated for non-life threatening injuries and later released.

The case is being actively investigated by the Sheriff Department.

Tulare County Sheriff’s Department Detectives were called to the 1160 block of Terra Bella Avenue in Pixley to investigate a residential burglary. Upon arrival investigators learned an unidentified suspect(s) entered the residence and stole 20 to 25 firearms from a gun safe. The estimated loss was $15,000. Detectives developed several investigative leads and have identified persons of interest. Detectives are actively following said leads.

Evading Peace Officer while Driving Recklessly

Narrative:

 

On 3-28-2015 at 11:17am, deputies from the Sheriff's Pixley Substation observed an extended cab Chevy truck traveling south on Church Road in Earlimart. The vehicle ran the stop sign at Church and Sierra. Deputies attempted to make a traffic stop, but the suspect fled south on Church. This resulted in a pursuit which led out of town to the area of Avenue 48 and Road 144. Speeds reached 80 mph and the pursuit ended at Avenue 40 and Road 168 when the deputy terminated it due to dusty conditions and losing visual of the suspect vehicle.

Possession of controlled substance and possession of controlled substance for sales.
LOCATION:  30900 block on Rd. 71 Goshen, Ca          DATE:  03/27/2015          TIME:  2300 hours

On Thursday, 03/27/15 at 2240 hours, Deputies were dispatched to the 30900 block on Rd. 71 regarding a possible home invasion. Upon arrival Deputies stopped two vehicles which were identified as the suspect vehicles by the anonymous caller. Deputies detained seven subjects between the two vehicles. During the course of the investigation it was determined no home invasion was committed, although the following crimes were identified. 

 

Keshawn Houston 23 years old from Visalia was found to have an active felony warrant. Josh Hammond 50 years old from Visalia was found to have a parole hold out of Texas and also arrested for driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. Barak Tuggle 34 years old out of Goshen was arrested for obstructing a peace officer. Michael Dehoog 33 years old out of Visalia was arrested for possession of methamphetamine with the intent to sell. Travis Bradshaw 45 years of age out of Goshen was arrested for under the influence of a controlled substance.

 

The methamphetamine was found to be individually packaged and weighed a total of 9.6 grams.

 

The five individuals were placed under arrest and transported to Tulare County Pre-Trial Facility where they were booked.

Possession of controlled substance for sales
LOCATION:  Laurel Avenue and Santa Fe Road, Visalia          DATE:  03/27/2015          TIME:  0238

On Thursday, 03/27/15 at 0238 hours, a Deputy with the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department contacted a subject on a bicycle in the area of Laurel Avenue and Santa Fe Road in Visalia. The subject was identified as Lawrence Chavez.  Lawrence was determined to be under the influence of a controlled substance and was taken into custody.  

Lawrence was transported to Tulare County Pre-Trial Facility.  While at the facility Deputies searched Lawrence’s shoes and found two bags containing a white crystal like substance suspected of being methamphetamine.  The total weight of the substance was 8.6 grams.  

Lawrence was charged with HS 11378 and PC 4573.6.

Bivens, Michael (43 Years)

Narrative:

On 3/26/15 at approximately 1051 Hours, deputies from the Tulare County Sheriff Department responded to a residence on the 1000 block of East Springville Drive in Porterville to conduct a probation search on Michael Bivens (43 Years).  During the search, deputies located narcotics paraphernalia, narcotic prescription medication and indicia indicating the sales of narcotics.  Bivens did not have a prescription for the medication located in his residence.  Bivens was placed under arrest and transported to the Porterville Substation.  During the booking process inside the Porterville Substation Jail, 3.2 grams of methamphetamine was located hidden on Bivens’ person.  Bivens was booked into the Porterville Substation for the above charges.

This case is currently being investigated by the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department.

On 3-25-15 Detectives with the Tulare County Ag Crimes Investigation Unit responded to the area of Rd. 136 and Ave. 56, Earlimart in an effort to recover a stolen dump truck.

Upon arrival Detectives located the truck in apparent operable condition and abandoned. The truck and surrounding location were processed for evidence and the investigation is ongoing. The truck was returned to its owner.
