Officers from the Woodlake and Exeter Police Departments arrived on scene and began to perform CPR on the driver who had been ejected from the vehicle.  A Sheriff’s Sergeant also arrived on scene.

While deputies were at the residence, they located detonation cord, a highly explosive substance, which was being stored by Digiantomasso. The Tulare County Consolidated Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit was called to the residence, took possession of the detonation cord, and it was secured. Due to his medical condition, he was not taken into custody at that time.

On 12-5-13 at about 1130 hours, Digiantomasso was contacted in the lobby of the Sheriff's Department Personnel and Training Unit where he was placed on administrative leave and taken into custody on a warrant charging him with possession of the detonation cord, 18710 PC, in connection with the incident listed above. Bail was set at $150,000.

Shaymus Digiantomasso was transported to the Tulare County Jail Facilities where he was booked on the warrant. He was later transferred to the Kings County Jail Facilities. Digiantomasso was transferred due to his knowledge of our facilities, and being a current employee.

On 12-6-2013, Shaymus Digiantomasso was transported back to Tulare County for his court arraignment, then returned to the Kings County Jail Facility for housing.  At approximately 1745 hours the Tulare County Sheriff's Department was advised by Kings County, Shaymus Digiantomasso had passed away from a self-inflicted injury.

As a youth, Shaymus Digiantomasso was a Sheriff's Explorer at the Tulare County Sheriff's Porterville Substation.  In October of 2010 he was hired as  a Detention Services Officer where he worked at the Bob Wiley Detention Facility.  He also served with the Army National Guard.
