211 PC-Armed Robbery

On 01/19/13 at approximately 0100 hours deputies from the Orosi Substation responded to an address in the 6800 block of Avenue 416, regarding a robbery of a mobile food vendor.  Once on scene deputies determined four to five suspects brandished firearms at victim #2.  The suspects took victim #2’s wallet and cash from the business.

 

The case is currently under investigation by the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office.

187 PC- Homicide
LOCATION:  Woodville Labor Camp          DATE:  01-19-2013          TIME:  2145 hrs

On 01/19/2013 at 2145 hours, CHP Officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation and found the victim in the driver’s seat, suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. A second victim was a passenger in the vehicle with a gunshot wound to the upper body. Deputies and medical aide were called to the scene. 

 

The victims were reportedly in the area of the Woodville Labor Camp when unknown subject(s) fired at the victims while they were in their vehicle. Victim 1, a Hispanic male adult in his 30’s, was transported to an area hospital by helicopter where he later died. Victim 2, a Hispanic male adult in his 20’s, was transported by ambulance to an area hospital where he was treated and released. Violent Crimes Detectives responded and the case remains under investigation.

245 PC- Assault with a Deadly Weapon

On 1/19/13 at approximately 2252 hours, Pixley Patrol Deputies responded to shots fired in the Earlimart.

 

South End Detectives also responded and the investigation revealed that the juvenile victim had been visiting family in Earlimart when an unknown vehicle approached him and occupants within the vehicle shot at him.  As a result of the shooting the victim sustained non life threatening injuries. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for his injuries and is in stable condition.

On above date and time Deputies from the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to the above listed residence regarding a home invasion.  Upon arrival, (V) Confidential per 293 PC, reported waking up at 0230 hours to find her rear kitchen door open and items belonging in her residence missing.  As a result, she reported a loss of $1,600.00. 

Deputies followed investigative leads and learned that (S) Anthony Castro had been spotted inside the victim’s residence.  The victim further claimed she had been having problems with Castro who had been following her for several months, harassing her over the telephone and unlawfully entering her home on more than one occasion.

At approximately 1840 hours, Deputies returned to the residence and learned that Castro had returned to the crime scene, unlawfully re-entered the home and left unwanted items of affection. Castro was subsequently located, arrested and booked into the Tulare County Main Jail without further incident.

Domestic Violence, Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Kidnapping
LOCATION:  Rural Tule Indian Reservation Land          DATE:  1-16-13          TIME:  2200 hours

On 1-16-13 sometime after 10:00 pm, the 21 year old victim was preparing to leave a friends residence at the Indian Reservation while standing next to her vehicle.   The victim was then confronted by Luis Teran (30 years), who assaulted the victim and forced her into her vehicle against her will.  Teran then drove the victim further into the mountain area, threatened to kill her and proceeded to physically assault her over a period of time until she lost consciousness.

On 1-17-13 during the morning hours, Teran drove the victim from the Indian Reservation into the City of Porterville and rented a room at an undisclosed motel.  During that time, family members became concerned for the whereabouts of the victim and notified the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department.  A short time later, deputies from the sheriff’s Porterville substation located the victim inside her vehicle, and found Teran a short distance away at the motel room.

Teran was detained for investigation, and the victim was transported by ambulance to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.  During the investigation, detectives were called out and it was determined that Teran was suspected of committing domestic violence, terrorist threats, kidnapping, carjacking and assault with a deadly weapon upon the victim.

The victim’s injuries were considered non-life threatening, and she was later released from the hospital.  Teran was arrested and later booked into the sheriff’s Porterville substation with bail set at $100,000.00.

BURGLARY, RECEIVING STOLEN PROPERTY & CONSPIRACY

On the above date the victims reported unknown person(s) made forced entry into a residence and shed. The unknown person(s) had taken a gun safe containing multiple firearms and a vehicle. The vehicle was subsequently located in the area the same day..

Detectives from the North End Investigations Unit as well as Detectives from the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office Gang Violence Suppression Unit served a search warrant at the 100 block of W. Inyo and the 1300 block of E. Whitaker in Dinuba on January 17th 2013. During the search, the gun safe was located along with an undisclosed amount of firearms. The case is currently under investigation by the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office North End Investigations Unit. Suspect: Gilbert Marquez 41/Robert Castro 57/Amanda Borges 27

On above date and time Deputies contacted two suspicious subjects in the front yard of a residence located in the 7000 blk of Ave 310 in Goshen.  Subsequent to investigation a third subject was located inside the residence.  It was then determined the subjects were burglarizing the home.  Gilbert Marquez and Amanda Borges were arrested for burglary and Robert Castro was arrested for Burglary, possession of stolen property and possession of a controlled substance. 

After further investigation additional stolen property was located at Castros residence.  The victim estimated the damage and loss at approximately $1,000.00 dollars.   Deputies were able to recover approximately $500.00 dollars worth of property.  This case is currently under investigation  by the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department.  Anyone with information please contact Deputy J. Update to Farmersville Homicide

Update:

Two arrests have been made regarding the homicide of Edwin Jaimes that occurred on January 13, 2013.

Michael Alcazar Navarette, age 26 of Farmersville, charged with 187 PC homicide
Jose “Tony” Alcaraz, age 36 of Farmersville, charged with 187 PC homicide

Detectives served four search warrants over a two day period, January 14-15, 2013.  Three search warrants were served in the Farmersville area and one in the Visalia area.  Navarette was arrested on January 14, and Alcaraz was arrested on January 15, 2013.

During the investigation, Detectives learned the three subjects knew each other and were at a party in Farmersville together.  They left the party and continued drinking in a rural area where a verbal argument between them began.  They got into a vehicle together and the verbal argument continued.  The subjects pulled off the road and the shooting occurred.  The suspects fled the scene and were located during the search warrants, arrested without incident and booked for charges of homicide.
An autopsy of the victim showed the victim had multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body.

On 10/18/2012 the Tulare County Sheriff's Department Crimes against Children Unit was contacted by the mother of the victim who currently lives out of state. Detectives were advised that a confidential juvenile male had been sexually assaulted over the course of five years by the suspect, William Henderson. The suspect, William Henderson, is currently a Sexual Registrant. He was arrested on a warrant for the above listed charges.

He is being held at the Tulare County Main Jail in lieu of $1,400,000.00 bail.

On 11/12/2012 the Tulare County Sheriff's Department Crimes against Children Unit were advised that a confidential juvenile female was sexually assaulted between the ages of 11-13 years old by the suspect, Jose Luis Molina.  During the course of the investigation Detectives learned of three additional victims. The suspect was arrested on a warrant for the above listed charges.

He is being held at the Tulare County Main Jail in lieu of $2,000,000.00 bail.

PC 211 Armed Robbery
LOCATION:  12500 block of Avenue 416          DATE:  1-11-13          TIME:  1745 hrs
CASE NUMBER:  13-471         VICTIM:  Undisclosed          CITY:  Orosi

  On 1-11-13 Deputies from the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department Orosi Sub Station responded to a convenience store in the 12500 block of Avenue 416 in response to a reported Robbery. Upon arrival they found a male victim reporting he had been assaulted and personal property taken from him during the assault. The victim sustained non life threating injuries as a result of the assault. Detectives from the Gang Violence Suppression Unit responded and assisted in the investigations.  Subsequent investigation by the Gang Violence Suppression Unit resulted in the suspects being identified and located at a nearby residence. Arrested were:

 

1) Jose Esquivel (21 yrs old from Orosi)

2) Michael Balderas (22 years old from Orosi)

 

Case is still under investigation by the Tulare County Sheriff’s Gang Suppression Unit.

On 01-11-13 between 1300-1400 hours two armed suspects contacted the victim at his residence.  The suspects bound and blindfolded him as they burglarized his residence.  The victim was uninjured as a result of the incident.   

Suspect Info: 

S1: HMA, late teens early twenties, 5’08”-5’10” thin build, LSW: Black hooded sweatshirt w/hood pulled up, dark pants and shoes.  Suspect was seen in possession of a Rifle

S2: HMA, late teens early twenties, 6’ heavier set.  LSW: Black hooded sweatshirt with hood up and a baseball style hat, dark pants and shoes.  Suspect was seen in possession of a shotgun.

Narcotics and Weapons Related Charges

On 01-10-13, the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Division, with the assistance of the Woodlake Police Department, concluded a two week narcotics investigation by serving a narcotics search warrant in the 300 block of S. Magnolia, in the town of Woodlake.

Detectives secured the residence and detained four subjects. Detectives searched the residence and located approximately 30.5 grams, or just over an ounce of methamphetamine, approximately 360 grams of processed marijuana, multiple pills of prescription narcotics without prescriptions, drug paraphernalia, drug packaging material, (2) SKS assault rifles, (1) modified .20 gauge shotgun, and (1) loaded .357 magnum revolver.

Suspect Max Cardenas was arrested, transported and booked into the Tulare County Sheriff's Department Main Jail for the following charges:

11378 H&S          Possession of a controlled substance for sales.
11350 H&S          Possession of a controlled substance.
11366 H&S          Maintain a place for selling any controlled substance.   
11370.1 H&S       Possession of  a controlled substance while armed with a loaded firearm
11357(c) H&S      Possession of Marijuana greater than 28.5 grams
12022(a) P.C.       Armed with firearm during commission of a felony
30720 P.C.           Possession of an SKS rifle.
